Chidambaram is a town and municipality in Cuddalore district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, on the banks of the Vellar River where it meets the Bay of Bengal. It is the headquarters of the Chidambaram taluk. A beautiful temple town in the Cuddalore District, Chidamabaram is famous for housing the marvellous Lord Nataraja Temple and the famed chariot festival. Apart from its authentic history, the town is a slice of paradise for nature lovers and bird watchers. Pichavaram backwater is one of the many highlights of this region. Thillai  Nataraja temple
The Nataraj Temple Chidambaram is also referred as Thillai Nataraja Temple. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is in the southern state of Tamilnadu in India. The temple has a deep mythical connection. When the name of the town was Thillai, a Shiva shrine used to be there in the temple. Chidambaram is the name of the city where the temple is now situated literally meaning “clothed in thought” or “atmosphere of wisdom”.

Thillai Kali Amman Temple, an important place to visit in Chidambaram has Goddess Kali as its presiding deity. The idol of the deity has four faces and is a magnificent sight to behold. Tirunallurpperumanam temple
Tirunallurpperumanam Temple is one of the 275 Shiva Sthalams and has a beautiful architecture. A visit to the temple is a definite bliss. The temple has 2 prakarams which covers an area of one acre. The outer prakaram is surrounded by tall walls. At the top of the temple there is a huge Rajagopuram welcoming the devotees. There are 100 pillars in the hall of the outer prakaram with many images of Sambandar and his consort. The shrine is decorated with 50 pillars exhibiting arty masonry.this temple is also embellished by many Theerthams.

Bhoovaraga Swamy temple
Bhu Varaha Swamy temple is a Hindu temple, located at Srimushnam, in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Constructed in the Dravidian style of architecture, the temple is dedicated to Varaha (Bhu Varaha Swamy), the boar-avatar of the god Vishnu and his consort Lakshmi as Ambujavalli Thayar. The temple is associated with Varaha, the boar avatar of Vishnu. The demon king Hiranyaksha stole the earth and took it to his realm of the netherworld. The earth-goddess Bhudevi prayed to Vishnu to rescue her. Pleased, Vishnu appeared here in the form of Varaha, a boar, killed the demon. The sweat of the demon king dropped here, creating the temple tank. In his dying wish, the demon king asked Vishnu to turn towards his direction; Vishnu obliged. The central icon faces towards the demon in the South, while his human body faces the devotees in the West. The festival icon, Yagya Varahaswamy, as requested by Bhudevi displays the regular features of Vishnu with his conch and Chakra in his hands.
