Lord Shiva, One of the Holy Trinity is known to have lived in the Himalayas with Goddess Parvati and is also the Living God. The Amarnath Cave is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. Shri Amarnath Ji cave Temple is located at a height of 3,888 m at the farther end of Lidder Valley which is surrounded by glaciers, snowy mountains most of the year. It is 45 Km from Pahalgam and 141 from Srinagar. The Amarnath Yatra generally occurs in the summer like July to August. Pilgrims begin their yatra with mountainous trek from Nunwan and Chandanwari base and take halts at Sheshnag Lake and Panchtarini. This is very sacred and special place in the Hindu religion.
